I have the honor to transmit, herewith, to H. E. Sir R. Alcock, with reference to my previous despatch No. 83 of the 18th of July, the copy of a communication I have received from Mr. Maylor, then at Lanton, on the subject of the establishment of a system of direct communication between the Police authorities of the colony of Hongkong and those of the Chinese at Kowloon.
Mr. Robertson, to whom I had transmitted H. E.'s despatch to me No. 123 of the 3rd of May, with the enclosed correspondence with the Colonial Office on this subject, informs me in reply that communications of this nature have always existed with the Kowloon Authorities.
